Apple has sustained a degloving injury to the tail, resulting in significant skin and tissue damage. This type of injury is painful and carries a high risk of infection and complications due to exposed underlying tissue.
Apple will require continued wound care, pain management, and veterinary monitoring, with the possibility of tail amputation depending on the severity of the injury and ability of the tissue to heal.
This level of medical care and potential surgical intervention exceeds what we can consistently provide in the shelter environment.
